Umma Burial Services in West Midlands was established in 1st  August 2012, after it has been identified that Islamic Umma and especially Somali community in West midlands  needed its own burial services. Umma Burial Services in West Midlands is always ready to provide the Somali Community in West Midlands all the required burial services. Umma Burial Services in West midlands will help it members who regularly pay the monthly membership fee. We strongly recommend everybody who is willing to become a member of Umma Burial Services to read the constitution before they become a member.

The constitution of Umma Burial Services in West midlands

To become a member 

1 who can become a member of Umma Burial Services?

  1. a family consisting of father, mother and their children who are living in same the address and have the same income
  2. a family consisting father and mother without children
  3. a single person over the age of 18 years.

2 The person who can become a member of Umma Burial Services must be originally Somali.

3 One of the married couple must be Somali

4 The person will become a full member when completed forms are returned to our office and membership fee is paid.

5 The children who are not in receipt of child benefit or child tax credit must register as dependent member.

6 A terminally ill person who is either in the hospital or at home cannot become a member until his condition improves.

7 For the children under the age of 18, their parents must bring their birth certificate or passport to show their parental responsibility.

8 If the number of the members increases, for example if new person joins the family or a single person becomes a family this new person must be informed to Umma Burial Services.

9 If a member changes his/her address and telephone number, he/she is required to give us his/her new contact details immediately.

10  If someone wants to become a member of Umma Burial Services he/she must come to the office with his identification papers.

11 A person who is not residing in the West midland, cannot become a member of Umma Burial Services .

12 A person who is not residing in the UK cannot become a member of Umma Burial Services.

13 a group of 10 people who are living outside the West midlands can become a member if they choose their own leader.

14 If a member moves to within or outside the UK he/she can still be a member unless they fail to pay their membership fee.

The money of Umma Burial Service

15 The membership fee for family is £40per year

16 The membership for  single person is £30 per year

17 The money of Umma Burial Services cannot be used to pay the burial expenses of someone who is not a member.

18 More than £500 cannot be withdrawn from the account of Umma Burial Services

19 When someone passes away, the expenses of his/her burial services will sent directly to the bank accounts of the organisation that has conducted the burial services. if they don’t have bank account any other form money transfer will be used.

20 The funds or the money of Umma Burial Services can only be used for burial services.

21 If a person passes away and the accounts of Umma Burial Services are empty, the committee of the Umma Burial Services will collect money from the Muslim ummah to cover these expenses.

22 If the family of the deceased gets some money from the local authority to cover the expenses of the burial of the deceased, after Umma Burial Services paid all the expenses, they must give that money to Umma Burial services.

23 Those members who pay their membership fee through the bank must bring bank statement for the last three months, if a member of their family passes away.

24 All the members of Umma Burial Services who are paying membership fee  must be aware that, the money they are paying is Sadaqa (alms) for them.

 

Can someone loose his/her membership?

25 Someone can lose his/her membership:

  1. if he/ her chooses to leave the Burial Services voluntarily
  2. if they fail to pay the membership fee
  3. if they gave false information when completing the membership forms
  4. if they fail to bring back completed forms with membership fee within 15 days

 

26 A person can lose his/her membership if they fail to respond after he /she is contacted either by letter or by recorded message.

27 If the membership of person expires he/she will be reminded to pay the membership fee, four weeks prior to the expiry date and his membership will be extended till the next fifteen days. If the person fails to pay his membership fee after fifteen days he will automatically lose his membership.

 

What expenses will the Umma Burial Services pay for the deceased?

 

28 The family of the deceased must bring the death certificate of the deceased, his passport and prove of address. There must be a prove that the deceased was living at that address for the last three months, if these proves are not provided Umma Burial Services will not pay the expenses.

29 If someone who is a member of Umma Burial Services passes away inside or outside the UK, Umma Burial Services will pay the expenses including the grave, the car, the coffin, the shroud and the washing of the body. If the family of the deceased decide to take the body of the deceased to somewhere else, Umma Burial Services will not pay these expenses. If the deceased was living outside the country he/she must have been a member for the last four months.

30 If unborn baby dies in the womb of his mother while his mother was a member of Umma Burial Services in the last three months Umma Burial Services will pay the expenses of his/her burial.

This constitution has became effective from January 2017.
